The holder of the 100KM world run record, Nao Kazami, will run in Brașov!

Brașov City is hosting the first world athletics championship ever organized in Romania! The 50KM World Running Championship takes place on September 1, 2019 in the town beneath Tâmpa.

Organized BY IAU (International Organization of Ultra-running), together with the Romanian Federation of Athletics and with the support of Ministry of Youth and Sport,  Brașov City Hall and Braşov County Council,  the 50KM World Running Championship will bring to Brașov the strongest Ultra-runners of the moment.

Athletes from 30 countries representing all continents will arrive at this championship, and before the competition starts, the Romanian Athletics Federation will introduce you the most famous athletes who will run through the streets of Brașov.

The Japanese Nao Kazami is one of the outstanding characters who will compete on September 1, 2019 at the 50KM World Championship in Brașov. Born on April 9, 1983, Nao Kazami holds the 100KM world track record. The fantastic performance was achieved on June 24, 2018, at the Lake Samora Ultramarathon 100KM (33rd edition).
Nao Kazami finished the race in 6:09:14, with an average of 3 minutes and 41 seconds per kilometre.

By 2018, the 100KM distance running record has stood for 20 years! The previous record was also made by a Japanese. Takahiro Sunada ran in 1998, also at the Lake Samora Ultramarathon 100KM, in 6:13:33.

In addition to Nao Kazami, the Japanese team competing in Brașov will also have Shunsuke Hisamoto, Yuki Murato (men’s team), Mai Fujisawa and Yuka Koyanagi (women’s team).

The 50KM World Running Championship takes place on September 1, 2019 in the city beneath Tâmpa and is organized by the IAU (International Ultra-Running Organization), together with the Romanian Athletics Federation, with the support of the Ministry of Youth and Sport and of the City Hall of Brașov and is co-financed by the Brașov County Council.
